Vittoria sat in her study, reading through some fashion magazine and enjoying a glass of red wine. Suddenly, the double doors were pushed open and she calmly lifted her head in the direction of her son's greeting. It wasn't too hard to spot the underlying anger in his voice.

She had expected him to come back, only she had expected him to come back straight away after she had sent that owl. Vittoria hadn't bothered replying. She eyed him for several moments, her gaze never leaving him as she sat up straighter and placed her magazine on the mahogany desk in front of her.

"Blaise." She finally greeted him in the same calm tone.

Blaise moved to stand directly in front her and looked down at his mother with a scowl. "Broke." He said slowly as his foot tapped against the floor. "How could you let that happen, Mother?"

He crossed his arms over his chest as he watched his mother put down her magazine. Manipulative and arrogant woman, Blaise knew than anyone what kind of woman his mother was. But while he didn't expect her to exclude him... even if he was her only son. And he did not like for her to ignore his questions. Really, it was sorely troublesome to come all this way, but she had left him with no other choice than to confront her. He simply could not accept the recent events, he would not.

Vittoria barely blinked. She was not surprised or frightened when her son crossed his arms over his chest and started tapping his foot on the floor. She was not impressed at all. Calmly, she rested her arms on either side of her leather chair and crossed one leg elegantly over the other. Still, her eyes never left his face.

"Like I said, Raphael left us too soon." She said in a cold voice. "He made us a lot of money going away on as many business trips as he did, but unfortunately his time was up before we could change his will. His money was already running out, darling. It was only a matter of time before I had to find a new support for both of us. Alas, we're in the same position now."

His eyes narrowed, never breaking contact with his mother's. "You had been married for a year already..." Blaise replied coolly and arched an eyebrow as he pushed the chair opposite his mother's out and sat down. "You usually have the will changed within the first six months."

Blaise uncrossed his arms and let on elbow rest on the chair, placing his chin in the palm, but he still looked at her. "Broke, Mother. Do you know how ridiculous that sounds? We have never been broke, never."
