Penelope had spent a while considering how the phrase went, before remembering that it was ' Beer to liquor, never been sicker. Liquor to beer, you're in the clear. ' So, she was working on her second Vodka and Cranberry, despite how the first one had made her feel quite ill. She probably should have eaten more. Drinking on an empty stomach was never a good idea.
"Regulus," she said with a laugh, pulling on the sleeve of her fiance's shirt to guide him towards the chair, "Sit down before you fall down."
Cedric walked into the Beedle Bar, having gotten an owl that it would be Penelope's birthday celebration. He had a bottle of Firewhiskey with a red ribbon on the neck tied in a bow clutched in his hand. It was a cheap gift to say the least, but he had no idea what to get a courtesan even Penelope who had been his friend since Hogwarts. But it always had a bit of past sentimental value. He wondered if she'd pick up at that or just see the Firewhiskey.
He saw Regulus and Penelope sitting the midst of the group of celebrators. A smile immediate came to his face.
"Hey!" he said the moment he reached the crowd, directing his greeting to Regulus and Penelope mainly.
Barty was about as sober as Regulus was. He had been staring at his own drink for about ten minutes. contemplating how the purple and red seemed to swirl together, and then wondering if his drink was too feminine.
He awoke from his stupor, with the sound of Cedric's greeting. Of course he recognised him from the year in which he took the Polyjuice Potion to disguise himself as Mad-Eye Moody. Oddly enough, teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts had been fun. He waved to Cedric, and then realized that the other man probably had no clue who he was.
"Oh...you don't remember me," if Barty had been sober, he would have thought twice before being so honest in his introduction, "I actually taught you Defense Against the Dark Arts the year you died. I was disguised. Is my drink too girly?"
He held the drink, which resembled a Cosmopolitan but with swirling colours, under Cedric's nose.
If Regulus had been in any way sober, he would have been all over the way Barty greeted Cedric. It probably would not have done well to have a Death Eater blatantly introduce himself as such to Cedric. Regulus knew that Barty had done engaged in Death Eater activities after he'd died, and he could sort of vaguely remember something about Cedric's own death and why mentioning Barty's involvement would be a bad idea.
But as it was, Regulus was most definitely not sober. So all of the pieces did not fit together the way they should.
"You two know each other?" he asked loudly, the words slurring together as he spoke. Man, he had forgotten how good drinks tasted...
