Macnair wasn't even a bit sloshed from his night drinking. In fact, his head felt clear. It was strange. He wasn't sure he liked not feeling the consequences of leaving a pub after a night of drinking.

He shook his head, but it was a bad idea. Suddenly he felt worse than he had. The dark blue sky was in perfect focus. The people running around were in perfect focus. It was bad. After the night before he almost wanted to be sloshed when he went back to Parvati. Then he could just tear into her the moment he walked in the door without feeling the need to engage her in the game they played.

Out of the corner of his eye, without turning his head a single centimeter, he noticed Regulus Black.

This could get interesting, he thought happily as he headed back in the direction he had came from hours before.

When Macnair exited the bar, Regulus wondered if there was any way he could quickly hide himself from view. As it was, he didn't have many options except hoping he looked like just another person in the street. He wasn't sure there was much chance of that, and he just silently hoped he would somehow not be noticed.

Oddly enough, Macnair didn't seem to see him. For a moment, Regulus wondered if that might be suspicious, but would he really walk back to his place if he knew someone were tailing him? He'd either try and hex Regulus or beat him to a pulp or Apparate, but not walk casually back to his home.

So Regulus began to follow him from a distance, about a half a block away at all times while always keeping him in sight. Already, his mind was racing; he would need to contact Sirius and Padma as soon as he could. But he had found Macnair, he had found him, and that meant that they could save Parvati soon...

Macnair had to force himself not to look back at Regulus. He could feel the other man following him. He knew he was back there, in the midst of the crowd, tailing him.

Macnair would gladly should him where he kept his prize. Where he kept his little pet. Not that he wanted to share her with such scum, but it was an interesting through to entertain. What would Regulus do when he saw her? Would be be so enraged he blindly attacked Macnair? Or would he be more calm and force herself to try to 'save' Parvati before he did anything rash?

Somehow he doubted the latter.

Regulus continued tailing Macnair, praying that he would never look back and notice him following along. So far, he hadn't. Regulus was doing his best to stay hidden on the street, doing his best to walk behind other people on that street, especially ones that were taller than him. But Macnair wasn't even glancing any way but straight ahead, for which Regulus was grateful.

He had pulled his wand from his pocket and had it gripped tightly in his left hand. If Macnair were to suddenly spot him, or if Regulus heard him hurting Parvati when they arrived at his home, he would not hesitate to hex him. And Regulus had received a training in the Dark Arts much like Macnair. If he had to, he would start unleashing Unforgiveables on this pathetic excuse for a wizard.

Macnair spun around, surprised by the ruckus of the three people barging in. He started to say something, but Sirius Black hit him with a spell before he had a chance to welcome them to the party. It was odd. One minute he knew exactly where he was, who he was, but for a moment, just a split second really, he forgot.

The spell didn't have lasting effects on him, but it still left him confused. He looked down at the girl laying on the bed, blood stained and half-conscious, then back up at the people. Shite! The charm's effects ended instantly. Whether it was Macnair's resolve or strength or the fact that Sirius Black was obviously brimming with anger that he didn't concentrate enough on the spell to perform it for a long lasting effect, Macnair didn't know. But he didn't care either ( ... )

Parvati didn't really understand what was going on. Through fever and tears, she heard voices and saw the sparks of spells, but what that meant hadn't really broken through the haze. All she knew was that she hurt, and she was afraid, and she wished she were anywhere but here, wished she were dead.

Then she felt hands on her again, and she let out a cry of terror. She felt her wrists fall free of their bindings, but that didn't matter because then she was hauled up and a wand pressed to her throat. Clearly, Macnair's voice came to her, next to her ear, threatening to slit her throat with a spell.

Do it, she thought. Do it, kill me. End it, please.

"Do it," came out in a murmur. She didn't realize she'd said it out loud, probably never would. She wasn't even really aware of the presence of Padma, Sirius or Regulus. Parvati shuddered, and sobbed. "Bastard. Do it."

Regulus could feel his heart ache when Parvati's words reached his ears. Did she not realize that she was so close to being safe? But she had a knife to her throat, and Macnair had stumbled on the one thing that would give all three of her rescuers pause.

Regulus didn't move, just as Macnair had suggested. But his wand had been out when he froze, and silently, he wondered if he could put Macnair under the Imperius from where he stood. The magic behind it was difficult enough regularly, and he would have to perform it wordlessly here. But if he was successful, then they would be able to get Parvati out of there without any worries...

Padma watched the madmen holding onto her sister, and she held her breath, not even daring to breathe as he held the wand to her throat. She didn't know what to do. Her whole body seized up the horror of it all, and her eyes slid over to her two companions, wondering what they were thinking, what they would do.

She didn't have the spell know how to do anything. She'd never been proficient at defense spells, and she knew that anything she did would only hinder and not help, so she stayed still. Knowing that the best thing she could do was not distract the two men beside her.

Still, her hand shook.
