RP: Merry Meet

Annis saw the girl approach the bend in Old Wells Road long before the girl had even decided to walk that far past Avalon Orchard.  There was no way for Annis to ignore the fact that since she had taken up residence in the woods at Old Wells Bend that there had been a sharp increase in the number of living creatures, both magical and non, passing

Riley's time in town hadn't been what she expected. She still hadn't found a place to call her own, her niche and if it hadn't been for the kindness of Madam Beedble, she wouldn't have a place to live. She'd become a barmaid which didn't really suit her but it was money and kept food in her belly and a roof over her head. When she wasn't at work, she spent her time in the lush forests around Annwn. They were beautiful. The new growth was in full bloom and the verdant colors were takng hold as Spring chased away Winter's icy grip

“Lo, young lass,” Annis called out to the girl who was approaching, “What brings you ‘round this part of town?” She walked over to a fallen tree that would suffice for a bench and sat as she watched the girl. Annis smiled and tilted her head, reaching into her breast pocket to bring out the little duckling that had become another one of her companions. She bent forward and placed the little bird on a thick patch of grass and weeds, where it promptly set about pecking and pulling at flowers and seeds

The woman spoke to her and Riley was a bit startled because she sure wasn't expecting anyone to interrupt her ruminations. She turned toward her, looking at the woman curiously and taking in the command in the woman's voice despite her stature. Riley thought it was odd because she couldn't determine the woman's age. The note of authority definitely didn't match her almost winsome features and Riley's forehead crinkled slightly at the thought

The lass seemed to be stuck somewhere between being a confident tigress and a scared rabbit, but Annis knew that came from her age and the girl would come into her own soon enough, especially if given the proper guidance
