Rabastan sat at his table and scowled into his glass of wine. Though in truth the scowl should be directed at the plate in front of him rather than the glass. The wine he'd been served was excellent, a wonderfully robust cabernet sauvignon. He hadn't tasted better even in France itself. However the standard of the escargot left a great deal to be desired. The snails had been overcooked and the parsley was far too bitter.

Movement by the door caught his eye and he turned to see a rather attractive woman walk in and speak to the host. He debated with himself for a moment then took a sip of his wine.

"If you are contemplating eating here, avoid the escargot," he said loudly enough for her to hear. He ignored the look he got from the host as he continued. "Though I have to say, the wine is excellent."

"Yes, a seat for one." Being inside the restaurant was a little disappointing. It seemed more about being a stereotypical French restaurant than being unique. It was nice though, fine wooden tables and the walls painted with rather nice frescoes. She smiled at the host when she heard a voice coming from the side, loud and drawling ( ... )

Rabastan sipped at his wine and looked mildly amused as the woman walked over and sat down at his table. He wasn't surprised that she'd recognised him, would have been offended if she hadn't to be honest, nor was he annoyed that she'd joined him without invitation. His comment to her could easily be taken that way and bold company might be amusing ( ... )

Hestia's lips pressed together. "I think not. I prefer not to get on casual terms with a man who's tried to take my life in the past. My name, however is Hestia Jones, call me what you like." He didn't seem bothered by her presumption, or by her attitude, but then being an in-law to Bellatrix Lestrange would probably give anyone a thick skin ( ... )

"I pay what the food is worth," Rabastan said dryly. "In truth I have overpaid for that meal." He looked amused. "If your food is worth it, I shall pay the price on the menu or more ( ... )

"No doubt." Hestia just always felt bad for the restaurant workers. She'd worked so long in restaurants that she would never underpay again. It was too personal to her. She looked over at him and smirked. "Well, you'll just have to find out then, won't you? Perhaps I'll cook for you sometime ( ... )

Rabastan arched an eyebrow and a tiny, slightly wicked smile grew on his face. "I'd like that ( ... )

"Ah, leave it to Catherine then? Collecting French philosophers and Italian art?" She smiled at him. "Never been to Russia, sadly, heard it's lovely during the warmer months ( ... )
