I'm a bit confused, what is it you're annoyed about? The implication that all EFL teachers are evil child shaggers or that they are imperialists? Or both?
I think I thought the original post wasn't very well thought through, but had some valid points, which was where the original comment came from.
I then read further through and found some entirely insane comment about how EFL teachers should be teaching the children in their care about white supremacy and found that dumb. So ranted. It's a long and rambling post really, dealing with the fact that I've got mixed feelings about whether the volunteer EFL teachers are really a good thing, but equally think that the OP was an idiot who didn't seem to get that she was just as at fault for spouting forth her own brand of US-centric claptrap in also suggesting that a better way of teaching english abroad would be to be teaching the kids 'about white privilege'.
It's the same thing as that some of my friends in Japan have lived here several years and refuse to even say hello, please and thank you in Japanese in a restaurant. It saddens me that I get surprised looks (albeit pleased ones) when I at least make an attempt. Never mind the sorority that spend their whole time whining about how it's not like home. Well, duh.
I'm starting to get really frustrated with not knowing enough Japanese. I get a lot through context, and I do know hiragana and katakana, but that's just scratching the surface really. Still, MBA exams will be over soon.
