What's more,I saw some made-to-order stuff from Boudicca on ebay and they did some hand stuff. And they are aeons from being anywhere near granola or hippy. Much the same for somebody like Bruno Pieters as well. God I hate narrow-mindedness!
i hear you, scott. i was flipping through SPOT magazine the other day, which is usually very good, and there was this beautiful article on dries van noten, and i say beautiful because, apart from the text, the images were seriously stunning, it was focused on little details as well as hair, makeup, microscopic texture and stuff but what really killed it was that, at the very end of the 5-pages thing said, ´just the kind of clothes you want when you´re a rich boho girl´. i felt ridiculously outraged, ha!
ick! Just the fact that they included a very snobbish "rich" in their sentiments is disgusting. Not something I think even the man in question would find savoury.
Talking of Dries-there again, they always tend to stereotype. Granted,he does use alot of hand-made textiles which are very rich and organic in texture but there's something different in his work than being merely boho.
I'm not talking about ethnic handworking but handicraft in general. It's this ignorant stereotyping and trend labelling that happens in fashion. As if saying, all handworking boils down to being a boho/ethnic provocation. Which is completely proposterous,to say the least.
