Run, run, run just as fast as you can...

This morning I went running with my trainer.  I am really proud of myself because I finished the whole two miles.  That's the first time I have run that far.  I did it in 22:00.  That is not a particularly good time, but it is not totally horrible.  It would be 58 points.  That is good enough graduate from Basic Training, but not good enough to ( Read more... )

Hey Ann...HitchHiker here...thanks for posting over on my blog, now I can track yours. :-) Running sucks huh? I used to run quite a bit back when we were all in college...jeez...seems like so long ago now doesn't it? Keep your head up and enjoy getting back in shape!

I remember you and Ted working out in college (although I never recall Ted running...am I wrong about that?). I remember being fit in college too. If we screwed around at skating practice, we had to do 5-10 miles (20-40 laps) around the rink...if it was really bad, we had to skate it backwards. I hated the punishment, because I felt like it detracted from whatever I was supposed to be working on. I do not recall it being a tough physical challenge. I also remember that sometimes I would miss the bus so I would run from the Towers with all of my skating gear to Smith Hall - no problem. They say if you take more than a 4 day break, you will see a noticeable backslide in your abilities...ok so that's every 5 days, over the last 10 years (since I quit skating)...hmmmm...that's about an accurate depiction of my current fitness level.

Yeah, Ted and I lifted together when we lived in English Village IIRC. I ran for sophomore and junior year for the most part. I was in the best shape of my life back then, started at like 180lbs got down to 155lbs running anywhere from one to five miles several times a week. I don't recall Ted ever taking up running during that time. Ah the memories...:-)

Shaving time of your run is quite Do-able. Just keep at it. When you are not busy watching where you step pay attention to your form. Bad form will add time to your run.

Push-ups: Add some exercise into your office routine. You can do dips on the edge of your desk. You can do a couple push-ups while making copies. Crunches can be done anywhere (just make sure you are wearing pants).

Good job on the run!
