I can't explain why people voted for 2 but I think the religious ones are just unable to understand that marriage is not really a sex or gender thing. It's two (or more) minds that gain something by being in proximity to each other. To relegate it to simply biological terms, which is what using sex or gender preference to define it does, is not doing the ideal of marriage justice.

Some people are just greedy and think that if gay people can marry, that the increase in people who get financial benefits of marriage will take money away from them.

Greed and stupidity are common bedfellows.

That's my take on 2 supporters anyway.
