Today I submitted my first paper for publication. All 55 pages of it. The good news is that it is done, and I am kind of proud of it. The bad news is that it was on a subject totally unrelated to my thesis, so now I need to buckle down and write my thesis. As my advisor says, September is not that far away. I find myself in a similar boat. Only my paper is more like 5 pages...

That must feel very, very good. Thank God I work at a newspaper with hard and fast print deadlines, every single week, because daily writing goals are not my forte. At all. But I do really well with screamingly unavoidable drop dead deadlines, when they come hot and fast.

Morgan may have finally invented something worthy of a paper. Not a candidate for science or nature, but maybe. Finally. What is the layman's gloss on your own glorious paper's subject?

I am holding a series of 7 TNG parties, one for each season, this spring. It is going to be the ultimate geek bonanza.
