Those pictures do look a little damp. But the place looks lovely! I hope their business does well. And congrats on the article!

That's awesome news!!!! And the place looks great. You know it's a shame, 30 seconds in photoshop would have brightened the image of the front of the pub right up. Sounds like they are being so diligent, keeping people safe, doing the right thing. Good on them. Tell your son congrats for me!

And yeah, pretty ironic about those protesters!

Thanks.

I think BBC were churning out the news today at such a rate there was little time for editing photos but everyone is pleased how the colour scheme looks - the white/grey/black repaint is what they've been doing over furlough, while I tried to revive all the hanging baskets and pots because there was no money to buy in plants and plant expertise.

They were exhausted and stressed and receiving a bunch of hate for opening/ serving Scots but from the sound of it they did okay and their customers were fairly pliable. Some areas have been horrific- drunken, aggressive crowds and blue lights.

Have to see how it pans out country wide and if we end up back in lockdown. People don't help themselves!

I don't know how it is with you, but this hassle seems to be fairly global?

Publicity is a double edge sword sometimes - sorry your family got targeted with stupid ranters as a result of the news story (which was really not much of a story anyway!). This reopening is too soon IMO but we'll see. As long as people are sensible it could work but going be past behaviours...

Love your hanging baskets!

Yeah, I am glad the media didn't get the story they were really looking for, which did play out in a lot of towns ( ... )

Yes to all of this. People just can't be trusted to behave sensibly, no matter what Boris keeps saying. But reopening has to happen sometime, I suppose, and because of all the other cock ups in messaging, I think they had to go ahead or there'd have been rioting. What with Farage and Cummings though - UGH.
My mum's next door neighbour's son opened his pub yesterday, I haven't seen them today to see how it went. They were as prepared as they could be with outdoor tables and booking in place.

Protesters 🙄
Welcome to the new normal though, right? When I opened LJ, I saw a post bemoaning having to call ahead and other restrictions at pubs. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The flowers are lovely! Scruffy sent me this link yesterday: https://www.google.com/search?q=texas+is+for+pansies&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b-1-m
I’m just going to have to go get pansies for the yard now.

Protests everywhere, about everything, many of those things needing to be protested, others, not so much. The world is in turmoil, a huge turning point, I hope ( ... )

Unfortunately we do have slugs and snails and they turn the leaves of my hollyhocks to lace 😖🤬 the little bastards. There were no slugs where I grew up so I am unused to them. I once famously kicked my sandal clear out into Route 8 when one somehow got *shudders* so I guess I will get violas (useless trivia: Viola was my great-grandmother’s name. Viola V. Vergne. There’s some disagreement over what that second V stood for, which seems odd.) rather than pansies. Thanks for the growing tips.

Yes, so much protesting all over, and the legitimate protests make those protesting pandemic restrictions look so small.

I love the name, and the dispute over the middle name. A family mystery.

I would still try a few pansies if they will be off the ground, assuming they are as cheap there as here.
