This is great, what an adorable idea. Miscalculations that turn you into a cat.*grins widely* I wonder into what the original calculation was supposed to result.

So I just kept it to the meat of the story and left the rest up to reader imagination. ;)

This one is lovingly light-hearted, and I'm completely sold on the back story you convincingly hint at.
But for me the biggest thing is the hint of Urahara making mistakes - we, the audience get to hear his admission, but the rest of the Bleach world does not. It fits utterly with his character that he has this air of authority, intelligence, but humility at the same time... humility because he knows how much of his success is luck or chance...

I do think it's hysterical that you seem to pull out even the tiniest ideas I was trying to stick into a story. Of course we know some of the biggest mistakes Urahara makes when he's centuries old, I figured it had to start somewhere. If he doesn't have any compunction about experimenting on people after a century, he certainly wouldn't have seen anything wrong with it as a teenager.
As for his humility, I kind of got that from his whole apology speech to Ichigo when they returned from Soul Society and also his guilt over the Vaizard. Of course we don't know if he truly feels what he's saying, but I like to think he does. :D
Thanks so much for reading and as always thanks for making me feel less insane by understanding my prose. :D
