I like how imaginative you've been with the two of them, esp. how you've incorporated Yachiru as a battle handicap and its obvious appeal for Zaraki. That's what I liked best in this, 'cos it's like you've really got into his head, and put thought into his motive, and aspects that would be important to him.
This is very touching, (and a little painful in the best sense) and I think you've done a good job of communicating the love between them. I'm a real sucker for death scenes and this definitely cuts.

... TOTALLY WORTH THE WRIST STRAIN :P

I did get it written. I want you to know though it's absolutely horrible and not the least bit funny.
Oh it's full of wank and crack, but completely devoid of humor. Now, how stupid is that? Any normal person would surely be able to write Kon with humor.
Not me apparently. *sigh* See, I really do suck at character prompts. Give me week to try and at least make it readable, before I post it for you.

Ow. My heart! :( I adore the platonic love between these two, and I don't think it gets enough attention in fandom. Beautiful portrayal of their familial bond. *wipes a tear*
Unohana politely requesting bankai is so full of exciting layers that I am dying to explore, but again my too-full plate prevents it at this time. That's a great touch, it really is.
Lovely piece. :)
(BTW I'll also say that I see some improvements in the flow of this one compared to some of the previous ones. Yay!)

ANYWAY!
I just...oh, wow, heart-breakage!
I especially loved: "For the first year, I carried her with one arm and fought with the other."
I can just totally see that being the way it was for the two of them and strangely enough it's an adorable image. Baby + blood = adorable? Antha, wtf.
But I love the emotion you put into it. Poor Ken-chan, the unwitting father. Typical of him to not realize the bond that was formed and the fatherly love he felt for her until he's losing her.
Also, Unohana: "...bankai, please..." = GOLD! ♥

Well for Kenpachi baby+blood really is adorable. Okay, a little twisted, but cute nonetheless. ;)
I'm so excited everyone seems to like the addition of Unohana. I just love her. Besides, I had to give some hope in the end. Killing Yachiru tore me up.
Thanks for the lovely remarks! *hugs*

And a very strange thought occurred to me, before I realized that the last line was from Unohana (sometimes I can't keep up with all the captains and their's zanpakutou XD) I got the impression that Yachirou had somehow become Kenpachi's zanpakutou. It's such a wild and strange idea, but in light of your fic it would be a more happy ending.

You know you're not the first person to say something about Yachiru being Kenpachi's sword manifested. I have to say it's a very intriguing idea. Not likely in my mind at least, but thoroughly adorable anyway. ;)
Thanks so much for reading and commenting! *glomp*

And I know this is supposed to be death fic but I want Unohana to saaaaave theeeeem! t__t

I know it was supposed to be a death fic too, but Unohana wouldn't let it end there without at least trying to help. And since she's a very commanding woman I let her. :D
Truthfully it was supposed to end the paragraph before and I just couldn't let it with that kind of finality. Cause me, I'm all about hope. ;)
Thank you so much for reading and reviewing. :)
