The thing that's most striking to me is that he puts Unohana on par with Yachiru in terms of the emotional effect on him . . . for a guy like Zaraki, that's a serious declaration!

*blisses out* This is everything I love about the Zaraki/Unohana pairing. I get the whole Captain Mom thing, but I hate it when people metaphorically stick her in high-waisted jeans with tapered ankles, if that translates. I'm really, really hoping for bankai in canon, or a frighteningly short skirmish at the very least, because her stats are just "Hoshit--"

I love your characterization of Zaraki here, too -- smitten, but not saccharin. Even in his admiration, he's menacing, but not without the ability to recognize his feelings for what they are.

I'm so happy you liked Unohana here, being a mom myself even though I do wear the high waist jeans ;) I see her as the fierce protector and incredible healer mom, rather than the typical soccer mom stereotype.

I don't for sure about bankai, but I know I read an interview with Kubo saying thar Unohana had some upcoming page time in the manga in the way. I just keep hoping he wasn't talking a year away. XD

I'm not sure I could ever see Zaraki as too sweet even if he feel in love, then again... XD

I got such a kick out of your review. I always find it fascinating to see what people loved about a story and what they got out of it. Your "admiration with menace" totally made my night.
