Very cool! I usually thought of Katen Kyokotsu as taking the form of identical twins, but I really like the idea of them as a pair of opposites, working together and complementing each other to create a whole functioning entity -- it's more in the spirit of Bleach, I think!

Your comment also inspired me to include in my notes the information that Katen Kyoukotsu in it's unreleased state is a daishou, or big and little sword pair. That's how I came about the relative sizes for their counterpart souls.

As for their opposite nature's complementing each other, it's sort of the way I have always seen Shunsui. He is a captain and has managed to live for 2000+ years, so he has to have a serious side. However, we rarely get to see it, even from the flashback to his academy days, so I figured it really couldn't be the dominant of the pair. :D

I always like zanpakutou's discussing their wielders be it among themselves or with said wielders and this piece falls into that category with a twist, a really good twist.

Katen, the tiny bespectacled flower sprite is precious and is by any chance Kyōkotsu a long, white-haired apparition?

Annieroo2: I like the level of anticipation built into this, that's a lot to do with the zanpakuto's patient waiting, their insightful, light banter, but there's also the feeling that things are *just* about to change between Shunsui and Nanao, which is uplifting.

I did sort of imply it was white by saying Kyōkotsu was a translucent apparition. :D I thought outright stating that might be TOO contrived considering I gave Katen glasses.

Although like I told marinliliz, before my final edit I didn't have the word count to fit in any more description. I wish I hadn't been so pressed for time to enter. I might have noticed I could add more wordage.

*speechless* I am actually shocked you got all that from my story. My writing isn't usually done well enough to convey everything that's in my head. But you got it and that makes me so very happy.

I'm so glad I was able to comment like this for you - that affirmation that the message *is* working, is exactly what I get from your feedback too.

The gaps in the text, the space between sender and receiver is huge, and it's feedback that stops writers from falling into the chasm.

I am struck by the interesting take on the prompt and the split of Ukitake's swords and the differing and complimentary personalities. I am with fine_lights on this. It is amusing to hear them speak of their master and themselves in such an intimate and ... unadorned manner. Good job.

I've always been intrigued with Shunui and his sword pair even more because he's the only one to ever have 2 separate swords in sealed form. Even Juushirou's is one sword in sealed form and only separates upon shikai

I haven't read too many any fics featuring Shunsui's zapankutou so I really like this concept, it's fresh and interesting. I like how you hint at the ambiguity of Shunsui's sexual preferences and his relationship with Ukitake... it all fits in with what we know about him.

And it just makes so much sense that one aspect of his zapankutou would be an outrageous flirt. XD

I've been dying to see someone write Shunsui's zanpakutou simply because it's so unique. I finally decided I'd just make up my own. I really liked the description I managed in my head, I just wish I had been able to translate it to the printed word better.

Still I'm so happy you enjoyed my rendition of Katen Kyoukotsu! I just couldn't fathom not having at least one of the sword personalities being a big flirt. :D

Whee! Thanks. I loved writing the banter between these two. This vingette actually spawned a multi-chapter story. I'm struggling to finish it though. Maybe some day?
