Room 330- Friday all day

Most of Annie's stuff was gone from the room. Everything had been taken down from the walls, her clothes were gone from the closet, her desk cleaned out, and everything that wouldn't fit into a carryon or one piece of luggage had been shipped home. It was kind of really depressing ( Read more... )

Rilla had a fussy Jims in her arms as she stopped by Annie's room. "He's cutting a tooth," she said apologetically, "and refuses to be set down."

"Oh, that's okay," Annie assured her. "I'd want to see him before I go anyway." Because he'd probably be like walking or talking or in kindergarten next time Annie saw him.

Annie didn't know much about child development, all of those things seemed equally possible.

Gabrielle had taken an early morning trip up to the roof -- to watch the sunrise and try to describe it. Having stopped in the third floor restroom to try (unsuccessfully) to get rid of the fresh inkstains on her fingers, she happened to glance through the open doorway and notice the distinct signs of someone moving out.

She paused just outside, looking at one of the bare walls before turning her attention to Annie. "That time now, huh?"

"Yeah, it is," Annie said with a frown. "Why can't my flight be delayed when I actually want it to be?"

"I wish I knew," Gabrielle replied, no sarcasm whatsoever there. "No matter how long or short a time we have when we're waiting for something to happen, it seems like the moment it actually does, it's always a surprise. Where are you off to now?"
