Why do I have a feeling that Izaya is lying when he says that he doesn't care about what happened to Shinra? Didn't something like this happen in middle sch- -gets shot-

Izaya is an extremely honest liar. What puzzles me is why he didn't bother with hiring bodyguards earlier since almost half of Ikebukuro consists of his enemies. That Shijima and his boss seem to be nice psychos, can't wait for the momment when they get their ass kicked.
