Never too late to jump on the cutesy train.
I know the Sam/Jack fandom is over a decade old at this point, but whenever the name for our ship was decided upon, I think some monikers with major potential were overlooked. I mean, Sam/Jack? S/J? What could be more boring? Sure, The Stupid Cute has also practically been copyrighted for our pairing, but I think we've overlooked a few options.
Jomantha. This one just rolls off the tongue. We all know stories are more emotional and evocative when they call each other Jonathan and Samantha. That is true love, people. Plus, it sort of reminds us what a big deal it is when our star-crossed duo actually use each other's given names. We all know how important that is. (Alternatively, Sanathon and Samathon are also viable alternatives. Though Sanathon sounds a bit like sanitation, but that could have potential, right?)
Sir-Carter. Yes, this sounds like a knight in shining armor or something, but this name truly embraces the angst that is our ship. It reminds us that they can't even call each other by their first names, because the fire that is their love is so barely contained by a veneer of military protocol that one "Jack" or "Sam" could burn the whole damn SGC down. Plus, I'm sure Jack will actually be knighted at some point and I think it makes a nice feminist statement for him to take Sam's surname when they get married.
Sack. Just think of it! Not only the obvious sexual connotations, but the years and years we could have been writing every situation in which Jack and Sam Do It in a sleeping bag. "Hit the sack, Carter." *squee!!!* We could have arts and crafts time at Dragon*Con where we decorate sleeping bags with shippy slogans and pornographic manips. And then we could give it to AT! Or maybe just give it to CJ so he can pass them on to our favorite couple. Scaring actors is fun.
Jam. I'm sure you can see the benefits of this ship name already. Sure, sweet and sticky, just the way we like them, but most importantly, we could have been sending jars of preserves to TPTB for years, people, to make sure our ship isn't forgotten. We could have contests for the best fan made jam and come up with various unique recipes like Confirmation Jam. Or Fishing Jam. Or Conubial Bliss NOW Jam. And think of the fanworks challenges! Competitions for Best PWP with Jam, Alien Jam Makes Them Do It, Jack and Sam Making Jam Together After the Apocalypse. The possibilites are truly endless.
