Lists of 2011

Not much to say up-front. My lists this year are incomplete. Somewhere in the middle I stopped writing down the books I'd read and the movies I'd seen. These two lists are not in order either, but it's a good chunk of the truth ( Read more... )

I really want to read Colleen McCullough's Rome series too! How did you enjoy that one?

I still have The Scorpio Races and Forever to read; I wussed out of Forever because of circumstances and now I'm inching towards it...

Also, yay, White Oleander!

FMiR was really hard to get into. There were too many people and too many things happening. It was almost like Les Mis. I don't know my ancient history very well, so it took me until about half-way in to really get a grip on WTF was going on. After that, it was a dry read, but I know quite a few people out there would love it. Especially history buffs. I feel bad that I didn't like it more. :(

It took me a long time to read FOREVER too. Not in the right head space for it. However, I must say that m-stiefvater gets better with every book she writes. It's inspiring to say the least.

saffronlie rec'd WO. I can't believe I haven't read it before. It was a gorgeous read. Literary YA at its best. (It might not be shelved in YA, but it's YA!)
