Mar 16, 2010 15:20

Last week on twitter, Heidi (author of up-coming novel Sea, 2010) had a terrific idea! She thought that this week we should all pay tribute to the authors that have inspired us to greatness. Anyone can play. All you have to do is post and link your posts on twitter with #AAW and @HeidiRKling. Mon-Fri you can post one or two authors a day ( Read more... )

That was a great post. I hear she is the author when it comes to faery tales. I have not read her Tithe stories , yet. (I know, and I call myself a YA fan). I was in grad school so I have to get caught up on all the great books from the past 10 years and keep up with the one books coming out. A daunting task.

Don't worry you haven't read her yet. I haven't read LOADS of books. That's why the TBR pile never really goes down, it's only the titles that change. ;)

But, I can't recommend Holly enough, so if you go out and do read some of her work, let me know what you thought!

ya know? I've actually avoided replying to bookstore want ads for that very reason ;)

This author and her stories sound terrific. I'll definitely be checking her out!

They're dangerous on all levels. As a customer, I spend way more than I planned every time. As a worker bee, I spent way more than I planned every DAY. LOL

She's got a number of short stories if you want to see her style. Check out her bibliography on her homepage.

I blame/thank you for introducing me to Holly Black. One of the few exceptions to my dislike of fantasy. :D

Heh, I agree with you 100% Holly Black is definitely one of my serious author crushes. Tithe was amazing but Valiant topped it and Ironside was just as gritty and rich. Though Valiant is still my fav. Her characterization and description are just so damn good it's hard for me not to get sucked in. I've tried to analyze the first chapter of Tithe dispassionately a dozen times and failed every one. I get lost in the words :D Love, love, love her.

Of all the published work, Valiant is my fav as well. I think I've read it a dozen times. Every time I find myself like a different turn of phrase or description.

If you liked Holly, you should check out Emma Bull. I almost put her down as one of my favs. She's a very close runner-up.

:D :D
