I don't know if it's possible, but maybe you could ask The Container Store to sponsor you since you work there. It's worth a shot and they might be able to contribute a lot. Or maybe some other organizations you're part of.
I think it's great that you're doing this. Good luck!
yeah maybe my secret ninja society could donate. oh shhh... secret. i am actually walking with the container store. we are raising money as a team, although goes under my name (not as the general container store donation) although it makes it up. that probably made no sense, but in case anyone has a problem with my place of work for whatever reason, i figured i'd mention that. ALL in all it all goes to GMHC which is doubly cool. ROCK.
I'm poor as hell but I'll probably do the AIDS walk this year, I skipped it the last few years 'cause I've been too busy, which I know is not a valid excuse. I used to walk every year even if I only raised like twenty bucks.
Also, if people wanna help out the cause and don't have money but have a little extra time, you can call the GMHC office, and ask them when you can come in and volunteer. When I was eighteen I volunteered at the special events office for the 1995 AIDS walk, and it was a blast. Mostly they just use you to stuff and address envelopes for people that request registration forms. But it's an office full of dykes and shrieking fags, and that's always fun.
