I love this. It's all sad and upsetting and still lovely, and I love all their different reactions to Tony having nightmares.

Also, everything Coulson is win. Standing behind the couch creepily is perfect. XD

I was about to just be like AND THEN THEY WERE ALL IN A PILE ON THE SOFA THE END, but then head!Coulson straightened his suit and got all manner of offended at the suggestion.

Holy crap, can you imagine if they all found out (like, Tony hacked SHIELD's files or something) when Coulson's birthday was, and then they pretended there was an emergency to get him to the mansion and then threw him a surprise party and tried to get him drunk and hilarious?!

And he would drink, and he would eat cake, and the whole time he would just SIT THERE AS STOIC AS EVER, and his version of getting drunk would just be cracking half a smile and giving maybe one chuckle when Tony makes a dick joke.

/I'm actually already working on a new Coulson fic, but it's more about him NOT breaking character like ever.

Headcanon says he just does that all the time. Like once upon a time he pretended there was a reason, and his calendar said things like "2:00 am, go search for strategic weaknesses in Avengers' house", but now he's not even kidding himself any more and it's just like "1:00 am to 5:00 am, stand there invisible and silently stare at Thor".

He uh could have used some hugs as a child, I guess is what I'm saying.
