You sound like me getting hooked on Ville, i can't remember the exact sequence of events, but eventually i fell for the whole package. oh, but the initial thing was rocky.
AHAHA, Ville is my DD's favorite singer in the world. Which, apparently, is very small. She's a huuuuge HIM fan and has a wallpaper of Ville on her desktop. She's also writing a HIM fanfiction. She calls herself "the future Mrs. Ville Valo."
Mmm, yes, the Sylph is quite taken with Big David as well, and has been since pretty much the beginning. Now that my favorite (Brooke) is out, I happily throw my support to the rocker as well. If nothing else, the thought of Little David winning the competition after singing the same thing every week... well, it rankles. (I mean, cute kid, but come on, branch out!)
My concern, of course, is that DC will lose because this is the search for a pop star, not the search for an artist. DC strikes me as an artist, because his voice and his presence are full of turmoil and storm. Brooke struck me as an artist because she laid her emotion out every time, sometimes too much so. Syesha strikes me as an artist because she is willing to try different things and has not let week after week on the edge of elimination extinguish her spark.
Little David? A pop star. Because you know exactly what you're going to get with him. Every. Single. Time.
The Sylph has excellent taste, and thank you for joining her. I really gave Archie a chance, especially after Imagine, but he never grew after that, never took a single risk, while DCook was out there doing this amazing risky stuff with a voice that absolutely owns me. As someone on the Entertainment Weekly blogs said, "He could yodel the Zimbabwe national anthem and I'd love it." :D I do believe David Cook CAN sing anything, and I also think he's savvy enough to be able to avoid being forced into the pop-star mold. (I have to avoid the "cookie cutter" imagery for obvious reasons.) 19E, the entertainment group that signs the Idol and the runner(s)-up, has to be following his discussion board and has seen the reactions to him when he appears in public, and they would be foolish to try to make him something he's not. Yeah, they can mold Archie, but they'll get the exact same album from him every time. With DCook, you never know what to expect - you only know it will be really remarkable. He is an artist and now he's a star, no matter

(And that's what scares me.)
Wow, I guess I had a whole rant in me!
