1. Darling Daughter felt ill last night; she WENT TO BED at 5:30 p.m., woke up at 8 p.m. and went back to bed at 10:30 p.m. Then she slept until 6:40 a.m., when she got up (without being awakened) and threw up. So she had to stay home from school today. All 6th graders in Wisconsin are taking standardized tests this week, so she missed today's test ( Read more... )

I hope Maya feels better fast!

She's fine today. Dunno what was bugging her stomach yesterday.

YES! Her health and attendance have been much better. She's more motivated to go to school this year so she's trying harder to stay well.

I know! I can't believe that it's been an entire year since stoatshead_hill started. It seems much shorter. Shame that it's slowing down :( but it was a lot of fun while it lasted.

Well, I hope SHH isn't done for. I'm still enjoying myself there immensely :)

You're another pumpking xmas author? Cool.

I really enjoyed the Windows ripoff - *snort*, as you say - laughed out loud. Windows *cement*, heh. I'm a linux/unix bigot myself, so always glad to trash Windows. They slavish adherence to big business re DRM is enough just there to eschew ever going the Windows way. I'll be quiet now.

DRM?

My hubby is also a Linux/Unix bigot. He laughed out loud when he saw the spoof.

And yeah, I'm a pumpkiny xmas author. I'm happy to be writing fic again :)

DRM - 'digital rights management'. Microsoft's first priority - and a *lot* of any 'innovation' that went into Vista, underneath the hood - was in their obsequiousness to the big movie houses' desires, rather than those of the actual Windows users paying for the product, in the implementation of constraints and limitations to make sure PC users can't copy or reproduce 'copyrighted material'. There's a *huge* amount of deliberate bloat to ensure that Windows self-cripples itself if it thinks you're playing movies that you're not supposed to, etc. Pfah!
