YESSSSS!!!11!!
The people have spoken and the tide has turned. I am very, very happy. And John Gard, one of the most reactionary people ever to serve in the Wisconsin Legislature, gave up being SPEAKER and lost his bid for Congress. So yes, I'm very happy about that too ( Read more... )

Except that they went ahead and passed the marriage amendment referendum - a red letter day for ignorant asshats throughout the great state of WI. Otherwise, I'm a happy girl. I lurrrrve Dave Obey.

I'm ashamed of the fact that inequality has now been enshrined in our state constitution. Ugh.

I'm a bit giddy about this country's government returning to a system of checks and balances. Now, we need accountability instead of absolute power in the executive branch.

I'm sure that was a large part of it -- people being tired of the GOP controlling everything at the national level. The Bush administration is the best argument I've ever seen for the system of checks and balances in our constitution.

We watched CNN. I was trying to avoid the bloviating blowholes on Fox. It was bad enough we had to listen to "analysis" by William Bennett and J.C. Watts.

Wheeee!!!!!

I am fresh out of cynicism this day.

Yay! *does happy dance*

(I'm thrilled, as well, of course. We've got a Democratic governor in MD again. No more Ehrlich. *whoop*)

Finally, some accountability in the WH. Let the investigations begin (for real.)Yeeeaahhh!!!!.

Squee. I aced my midterms, this country aced its midterms....It's been a good month so far. Hopefully we can continue the climb out of GOP darkness in two years.

Hmmm.... the House brings the bills of impeachment (and you can be sure that Bush deserves more than one bill of impeachment) but the Senate would have to convict. Hmmm. Well, even if we got to the impeachment portion, I'd be happy. SOMEONE has to hold that fool in the White House accountable for his crimes.

*seconds your Yessss*

I was grinning all last night when I saw how the Reps were getting their asses handed to them in the House. And cheered this morning when I heard we'd gotten the Senate seat in Missouri - when I went to bed last night I was sure we were going to lose it to the Reps, and without that we probably wouldn't get the Senate. But we've still got a chance now. *crosses fingers*

Even here in OK, Red Central, Dems had a pretty favorable showing.

Eee... Looks like they're calling Montana for the Dem side - that would officially make it a majority...
