I remember reading this when you first posted it and very much enjoying it. As a curious teenage girl, you just know Hermione had some thoughts/dreams on what kissing her best friends would be like considering they were both guys. And (winks) of course she felt that Harry wouldn'tbe a bad kisser.

Lovely story, Anne. I find it quite believable that those things could be found up in Sirius' room, poor guy stuck there for a year.

Harry and Ron's plan of getting pissed was understandable and their reactions to the magazines quite amusing.

I loved Hermione's reaction when she came in, taking in the alcohol and magazines. She handled Ron so tactfully and it was probably a good thing that he was drunk.

Cute little drunken snog and I liked the conversation that followed, having things go slow and quietly.

Hermione handled the questions very nicely and I liked how you wrote Harry's newfound appreciation for her.

Thank you :) If you can imagine, the first draft of this was in third-person, past-tense, still Harry's POV, but they were all sitting around in the pantry at GP getting drunk and decided to play Spin the Bottle. Thank goodness that one went into the circular file ;) This one works much better. Thanks again :D

While "Spin the Bottle" would have been interesting, I think that it would have been inappropriately light for (what we assumed were) Harry's feelings at the time.

This did work nicely... and absinthe... wow, they are stupid. At least it wasn't flaming absinthe shots, I know ppl who have done those.

It was so great to enjoy this fic another time! I certainly like your version of Harry's 16th birthday much better than JKR's. Harry's reaction to the party, and wanting to escape from it, seemed perfectly in character as did Ron and Hermione's responses. I like the way Harry examined his feelings about Hermione and realized what she means to him. *happy sigh*

I'm so glad you enjoyed this one AGAIN. And personally, IMO, it seems much more in character for the Harry at the end of OotP to be out of sorts this way than for him to be all pulled-together the way he was by his birthday in HBP. *shrugs*

I'm all emotional after reading this... It was so sweet and sincere and touching, and that made me happy. And then I COULDN'T HELP but compare it to what we actually got from JKR and felt so disappointed... I know I need to get past what HBP was, and by now I normally can, but this was just so lovely that the comparison was unavoidable.

Thanks for reposting this, it would have been such a shame for me to miss it! And this idea of reading and commenting today... so much fun! I'm glad to whomever you got the idea from!

I got the idea from my dear friend apolla, who was one of my first friends in the fandom. Not sure where she got it from. I'm glad you enjoyed this fic. I really struggled with it. I think it took me more than a month to write (and rewrite) it to my own and my beta's satisfaction. I'm sorry HBP didn't turn out this way; I still can't understand how Harry managed to get over his grief as easily as he did (and of course how Ron and Hermione had NO repercussions from their serious injuries in the DoM, but that's another issue).

If you want to see a BRILLIANT series of stories that seem to flow seamlessly from the end of OotP, I recommend the Tragic Little Hero series by cheeringcharm on Portkey. Great, great stuff.

Oh, I still LOVE this fic *happy sigh* I loved it when you first posted it, and I loved it now. Poor Ron *huggles him* But he has to learn that Hermione belongs to Harry ;)
