Happy New Year to you too!

I've always thought it would be nice to live somewhere so dry, but then there's always the risk of things like that happening when water does show up.

Oh, Queensland's not dry at all, 'cept in the deserty bit of it. The rest of it's either tropical or affected by the tropics. They're the ones who get cyclones and flooding and all the rest of it, just~ not this bad.

SA, now we're fricking dry. Natural disaster-wise, we're probably the safest state in the country, apart from maybe Tasmania. There's the odd bushfire, but we haven't had a properly bad one of them since Ash Wednesday in the early 80s. The CFS (Country Fire Service) knows what they're doing with controlled burnoffs and everything in the forest. But no earthquakes, no (severe) flooding, no tidal waves or tsunamis, no cyclones, never get a snowflake, let alone being buried under the stuff like the entire northern hemisphere was earlier. Just the bloody drought which looks to be finished maybe. YEAH FLOODWATERS~

I hope no one has died :( It sucks to lose everything like that.

Sixteen confirmed dead so far, with another 60-odd still missing, last I heard. It's scary ._. The floodwaters are receding now, but it's still only the beginning of the wet season yet. And also cyclones, but they're used to them more than OMFGFLOODS I should hope.
