So I refreshed my flist and saw this at the top and my expression must've been quite funny because I legitimately BOGGLED and then checked the timestamp because I thought I might've... click on my memories or something? Idk. AND THEN I FLAILED ALL OVER TWITTER WHICH YOU ALREADY SAW.

Ahem.

Nix closes his eyes and slumps back against the couch, letting his head rest against the cushion. He's so tired of everything, and he's pretty drunk, and maybe he'll just pass out. Maybe he could just stay passed out until all this is over with, never have to wake up and face his pathetic life. "The truth is awful sometimes, isn't it?" he says vaguely. "Sometimes it's just really goddamn awful."

I feel like if Nix was like, in his 20s or 30s today, he would be in an emo band with really long song titles.

Nix watches him find the right speed, watches him find the right place and fuck himself down on it over and over, a funny focused sex expression on his face as he concentrates on what he's feeling, as he learns how to do it, what he likes best. ( ... )

"It's cold!" Luz says. He's got his arms wrapped around his chest.

"Yeah," Joe says, closing his eyes and letting the sun shine on his face. "It's totally Bastogne out here. I'm dying."

IT'S TOTALLY BASTOGNE OUT HERE. Next time it is UNSEASONABLY FREEZING IN BOSTON (which will probably be, like, tomorrow, or a day sandwiched in between two days of perfect sunshine - you know how it is) I am totally busting this out and people will be like WHAT and I'll be like BASTOGNE, BITCHES.

Luz sprawls out next to him on his back, hair plastered to his forehead, water beading up on his bare chest. Even the dirt underneath them is warm, and it's hard to remember the Ardennes anymore, how cold they were. It's hard to remember what being cold even feels like, like every inch of them has thawed out.

This is such a beautifully visual description, gosh <3 And it's so true about not being able to remember how strong those kinds of feelings are, like when you're REALLY cold or REALLY hot or REALLY thirsty. You look back on it and think, oh, it couldn ( ... )

HEE, oh man, this is like my favorite reaction ever. WHO KNEW IT WOULD EVER BE FINISHED? I sure didn't.

I feel like that should be Nix's tagline. LEWIS NIXON: HE'S GOT QUITE A BIT OF BOOZE.

Haha, oh god, true story.

Also, hee, every time it was crazy cold in Boston I would INEVITABLY think "at least it's not Bastogne", as I was unable to feel my feet, so. Nice to always have some perspective there!

Oh my gosh, this is PERFECT. Niiiiick not being able to stop smiling when Nix apologises! And, oh God, the rough sex that was so UPSETTING (...but hot?), with Nix not understanding WHY. And Joe and Luz continuing to be the greatest historical couple of all time. The last line may have induced some slight tears. MAYBE, WHO KNOWS. I'm just so glad Joe (sort of) (grudgingly) came around, and that he was with the two people he should be, in the end. JKFD;LJDAKASHD'JDLF ♥
