For the
randomerfest Remixathon: I drew
anniesj's name out of the Sorting Hat, and decided to remix her excellent
The Ballad of Randy and Joan. Spuffy, man, it's been a looooooooooooong time.
So here's my not-at-all-good-enough remix of that classic fic.
(Master list of the Randomerfest Remix is
here and will be updated throughout the day as everyone else posts

You are my hero and I hate and love you. Doing this from Giles's POV was ... brilliant and inspired and this *works*

This is exquisite, Kovsky. So sharp and painful and vividly rendered. You kill me. Brilliant job.

Holy SHIT.
FUCK.
KOVSKY!
Giles follows them without letting them see him, a trick he's perfected over the last fifteen years. In many ways, he tells himself, his life isn't that different. He fights demons and he drinks too much, and if everyone he loves is dead, well, there weren't that many people he loved in the first place.

It's funny, but The Ballad of Randy and Joan was always the only one of Annie's fics I didn't like. I don't know why. It just didn't click for me. But your remix has accomplished what a remix should do -- it's brilliant on its own, and it adds lustre and texture to the source material.
WOW.

Aww, what generous feedback! I adore you. Thanks, lovie.
See, it's funny that that fic doesn't do it for you, because it's probably the one of Annie's that I like the most - the images and world really stick with me. And I read it looooong before I knew her, so it was funny to go back and reread it. Aww, Spuffy, the good old days!
