Cranberry Pie

I almost forgot about posting a recipe today! This is one of my favorite pies. It's kind of like a giant muffin, poured in a pie crust, with a delicious layer of caramel at the bottom. I'm making two of them for the Harvest Dinner this weekend. And a third one, just for me.

Oooo. I haven't a clue where I'd get fresh cranberries here, but like you said, I can just use a different berry. Sounds very tasty. Mayhaps I shall make this for our grad lunch thanksgiving dinner...

Frozen cranberries are good, too. Just as long as they're not the canned ones all jellied and stuff. Or the dried cranberries. The dried ones will work, but they're not nearly as good.

Up here we always have fresh cranberries near Thanksgiving (and frozen the rest of the year), but cranberries are one of the major crops of Michigan and Wisconsin. Wisconsin is, in fact, the largest producer of cranberries, with over half of the U.S. production. (Thanks, Wikipedia!) The frozen ones at my grocery store are near the other frozen berries. Right by the ice cream! Make sure you thaw them before use.
