First hospitalization of the year.

Look at me, being mildly optimistic in my last post, then disappearing for two weeks. Let’s just say the nerve block did not go as planned. Or maybe it did, and I just didn’t know it? The day after I posted my blogpost, I had my nerve block. A new one I never had before. It wasn’t exceptionally painful, though they are never fun. My doctor ( Read more... )

It's a pretty well-known phenomena that doctors don't take women's pain seriously and that they think we're overplaying things when actually we totally downplay things. Like when I had my 10cm cyst I went in saying, "I'm having particularly bad cramps." I got eye-rolls. Then they took the ultrasounds and MRIs and were like, "HOW ARE YOU EVEN STANDING UPRIGHT, MUCH LESS FUNCTIONING?!" and I'm just like, "If I don't go to work, I don't get paid and can't live, so... I did what I had to do?" Pfft, doctors ( ... )

I know, I wish they’d just believe us, or at least check before dismissing us. (Though they still dismiss us despite proof). I definitely blame my GP for his part in my grandma dying, since I had been pushing my grandma to get checked for Corona for a while (she hates going to doctors, and only goes when things are really bad, so you’d think by now our GP would know that), and when she finally went, because I had convinced her that everything she complained about sounded like corona, he dismissed her without even testing her. Which meant she received zero healthcare until she had to be admitted to the hospital, and there they finally tested and discovered she had corona. If they had helped her sooner, they might have been able to save her. If I can tell the symptoms line up with corone, why can’t her doctor? But yeah, my faith in doctors is near non-existent by now. Women are so much more resilient than doctors give us credit for ( ... )
