Recipe 8: Egg Bake for Brunch

This is Adam's paternal grandmother's recipe.  It was exceptional.  I used my Challah bread as the bread for the bottom layer, but had to use loaf bread for the top.  It was very tasty.  I also subbed cooked bacon for the ham, and I used Cheddar instead of the Old English cheese. This looks delicious. Did the bread on the bottom get soggy at all?

It's kind of a weird thing. The egg mixture soaks into the bread so it's all wet, but when you bake it, it's not at all like bread. It's very good and more like an egg-bread-cake texture. That's why you refrigerate it over night.

do you think i could use veggie sausage??

this would be perfect for march, when i'm having, like, 10 people over for brunch!

Absolutely! You could even eliminate the meat altogether, and it would be great. Or you could do something like broccoli or a veggie mix up like peppers, onions, etc. It's really perfect for groups, especially because you make it the night before, and then just bake.
