My secretary's husband is an E7 and on station at Salerno. According to the husband of another Army wife that works there in an office (he got word out), my secretary's husband was directly involved in the fire fight but was not hurt. He claimed that only two of our people suffered "minor" injuries and would be flown to Camp Chapman nearby for treatment (but not bad enough to be flown out of conutry). The Afgani civilivans that got hurt or killed were done so during/after the attack, as the explosion or the subsequent firefight. No information concerning any coalition contractors getting hurt was mentioned. God bless!

Anonymous, thanks for the kind words and for passing along the info.

The most recent data I have from official sources doesn't quite match what Nephew is telling me -- but he's alive to gripe about it, and that's wonderful.

Final injuries for him: possible concussion, scrapes and cuts and bruises, hearing damage (hopefully temporary), injured feet from running on gravel w/o combat boots. He was in the chow hall when it got attacked. One of the men running with him was shot; I don't know how badly.

The number of injured-not-killed has not been reported in the US press, so I won't report it here, but it was a number not very close to two. :(
