Deer Tick Larva BITE - 2009 0324 Largest size
here. Circle=10mm inner diam.
Sunday's tick bite was a plain old dog tick. Yesterday's bite (Tuesday's) was indeed a deer tick, in fact, the smallest stage of its life cycle.
Little bugger. My dearest
savant_da_rat removed it before it could infect me with Lyme (as last year's deer tick larval bite did - successfully fought off with antibiotics).
Anyway, these things are small. Small, small, small, but it had a hard body and I felt it bite me. Bleah!
Follow the photo link for more info on deer ticks, Lyme, etc. And here it is compared to a dime, thanks to the nice folks in
Iowa State's Department of Entymology.
I am sorry to report, Belle, Ellie, Xendragon, that they are
spreading in Britain.
