Does Virginia allow special symbols? @$%&?

No, no special symbols so far as I know. There was a fuss about @ a while ago, not sure how that resolved.

Since I don't actually practice law, I'm kind of hesitant about the legal ones.

Oh, I did that! And they gave me this plate:
KAY # # # #
so everyone thinks my name is Kay (and there's no wheelchair, which I need).

So I'm getting rid of it.

I checked - WHBBLN is available. :)

Hehe. Well, that one is a good one though most people won't know what 'Whibblin' means which makes it even more secret and inside-joke oriented.

And if you feel modest you could even say it means 'wheelchair babe in your lane'
