Le Château de la Dobiaye, St-Jean sur Couesnonankh156March 11 2013, 10:54:02 UTC
It's a 16th century fortified manor house in the Brittany borders, where there were plenty of battles over the centuries. Here's my flickr where you can see the courtyard and the accompanying buildings (http://www.flickr.com/photos/ankh156/). It had walls and a moat all around - and a drawbridge. The farm is known to have been exploited since the 13th. The Seigneur de St-Jean sur Couesnon lived there and had logings for 6 knights and their horses to protect his farm and impose order and peace on the neighbouring countryside. The battle of St-Aubin du Cormier happened nearby in 1488 when Brittany lost her independence and came under the souvereignty of the King of France, who married Duchesse Anne of Bretagne. If you're ever in North West France you'd be welcome as a visitor.
