So for all those of you staying tuned for the ongoing saga of The Medical Issues of Miss Anjali Pai, you may be happy to know that I finally have ( a diagnosis. )
Hey honey! PCOS is a bitch, pure and simple. The up side is the effects of it can be managed pretty well. The down side is when a cyst bursts? You double over in pain and possibly even scream, depending on pain tolerance. (Mine is low... I scream.)
Fortunately, I'm on birth control, so I'm not actually releasing any eggs. My doctor said that even though I'd been off it for awhile, I probably still wasn't releasing any eggs, judging by the state of my ovaries, so while my chances of becoming pregnant aren't looking great atm, hopefully that bodes well for my cysts, or lack thereof.
That was VERY informative and I may clip it to hang on to for reference, heh.
I've taken some of those supplement - the one I want to heartily endorse because I've noticed the biggest effect was Omega 3 fish oils. I call them "brain super food" and I have really noticed an increase in mental clarity and focus after taking for a while. I've been bad lately at taking supplements, but when I do take them, I take 2 g a day of the Omega 3 capsules. I buy molecularly distilled fish oil from Trader Joe, have for years - it's about as pure as it gets. I have no Trader Joe's near me anymore, so when I'm in the San Francisco area for Yaoi-Con every year, I make a trip to one and stock up, heh.
Good luck with the PCOS - your chronicle of your treatment could be of terrific benefit to others! *hugs*
The Omegas are amazing. I do eat quite a fair amount of flax and the like, but the fact that I don't eat fish means that I do try to supplement with it. Though it is possible to get Omega complexes that are isolated from plants instead of fish, which is very nice.
LIVE CULTURES. hehehehe. So my friend eats frozen yogurt with live cultures, and her boyfriend was like, "...you eat germs???" and was really weirded out and it makes me giggle.
Also, EMERGEN-C! That stuff is amazing. I also recommend Airborne (or the equivalent generic brand), which keeps you defend against viruses and the like, helpful when you work in a place with lots of germs running around- say, a school. :)
eta: GLAD YOU ARE NOT DYING (shut up, you never know!!! XD ) ♥
Haha! When I told my kids that we have about 10 trillion cells in our bodies, but 30 trillion bacteria, I think they were all about to vomit. XDD
YEEE good stuff! I may have to pick up some Airborne. I've been taking another brand, by the same company that makes Oscillococcinum and the like, but obvs that isn't working so well since I managed to fall sick anyway.
