1. Still alive. Sorry I've been silent -- things have been crazy insane lately and I'm finally getting to settle down, at least for a few days.

2. Am in my new flat! It's gorgeous. I wasn't expecting a whole lot, especially after my flat in Toronto, which was condo-finish and everything, plus being on the 25th floor in the middle of downtown ( Read more... )

Yay! I'm glad your flat is gorgeous and that classes are going well!

and it's reeeeally great to have people to talk to who actually want to have interesting, intelligent conversations that don't centre around pretentiousness.

Ahh, I know exactly what you mean. I'm currently studying abroad in Rome and there are amazingly intelligent and ignorant people in equal parts at my university. Last night I had a terrible conversation (if one could even call it that) with someone who believes Iran will bomb us tomorrow if we don't bomb them first, to put it simply (as he did), but I've been consoling myself with a great dialogue I had today with someone who's actually read the 9/11 commission report about what's changed since then and what it means for us in the Middle East. Er. That turned ramble-y, sorry. Also! Am excited about those upcoming posts, as my Classical Political Philosophy class totally reinvigorated my love for those texts.
