I've found, rather unfortunately, that for some fandoms it remains the first place to find fic, even if you have to trawl through a hundred shitty fics to find a gem.

On the rare occasions I write these days, I put my stuff on AO3. I actually removed every fic I ever published on The Pit from there and closed my account because I despise the place that much and only go there grudgingly.
