Release 88Honestly, I can't believe LJ: a. thought these changes were a good idea, and b. made the changes despite the fact that when the details leaked, people told them in droves that they didn't want them

I used those damned keywords a lot in RP journals, & didn't even realize they were part of what they were screwing up. I didn't expect the icon browser to unalphabetize them either. Huge waste of time & resources.
And of course the usual lack of respect for the paying customer base. Again. Ugh.
Let's not forget the lack of comment preview ability! *headdesk*
I just looked at a couple of comms I'm part of and I could have cried. Just...*RAGE!!!!*
Despite their BS, I've stuck with LJ exclusively, but I'm at the end of the line on that. This is just one time too many with the lack of respect for what the users want.
I never thought about the lack of comment preview. Thanks for adding that to the list.
Gotta agree with this. In fact, I just said as much to another person in their journal - I suspect this is all about getting people to pay to get functionality back.
I didn't even realised the preview/spellcheck functions were gone until I read that thread! WTF WTF WTF?! And typing a letter into the userpic function, that don't just bring up icons starting with that particular letter, but ALL the icons with that letter! WHAT?!
I think I'm going to post this comment to that release thread. Srsly WTF?!
I didn't know about those either. WTFF? I mean, FireFix has a built in spell check anyway, so not much of a bother for me. But I don't know if that is true for other browsers. As for the deal with the userpics...again I say it but WTFF?!?!
Yeah, I'm hoping loads of people complain so that LJ will see sense. But I'm not holding my breath. Already over 4500 comments over there, last I looked anyway.
As I said to Steph below, I don't have the 'vote with wallet' choice - permanent account. *sigh* Though I am majorly pissed that so many people protested and LJ still did it anyway. Just proves that they do not listen to their customers.
Once I've reinstalled Windows - which I shall be doing over the holidays - I'm going to install Semagic and x-post.
I really don't know what the fuck LJ are doing TBH. Sounds like a ploy to get people's money or make people use sponsored accounts, just to get what should be standard features. My coding still allows me access to a lot of the stuff missing from the new design, thankfully. So I shall be using "style=mine" a lot.
I had a DW account years ago, forgot the info cause I've stuck with LJ but I just opened a DW account, you're on there? Add me? http://stephmariemarsh.dreamwidth.org/
seriously this is fucking BS they've done this. My LJ account expires next month, I'm not renewing unless they change things around by then which I doubt. *headdesk*
I've added you. You should get a message so that you can add me back. In case you don't, I have the same username there as here, so shouldn't be too hard to find me. =)
I wish I had the option of voting with my wallet - I have a permanent account.
At the time, I never expected to be so infuriated with LJ on a regular basis and paying what was about the equivalent of five years of paid time seemed like a good investment. Ah well, you win some, you lose some. Nice to know that brand loyalty to LJ is basically worth a huge slap in the face.

It seems they never lose enough paying customers despite 10000 protests.

Like a lot of LJ stuff...instead of fixing the things that are actually broken, they have to feck about with that which isn't.
And yeah, I foresee a LOT of use of 'style=mine' with this.
