Life without TV

Earlier last year, around March, when I moved house, I didn’t have a television set. My previous owner had one at the flat which I put to good use. When I moved I didn’t immediately buy one and it wasn’t a conscious decision at first, but then I decided that I’d try living without a TV for a while ( Read more... )

Go you:)

I've come to feel that I'd be happy enough without TV as long as I had broadband internet access:) Still to try it out though!

I do agree on life revolving around TV at times at least. Given my erratic timings, I'd pretty much stopped having fav. serials, except for f.r.i.e.nd.s. I always tried to catch the nth rerun of that every day, even after they moved it to 12:30 am *ugh*, and even though I know I can get DVDs of every season so very easily. Just as I was about to convince myself to miss out on it every day, Star thankfully scrapped it on the night slot.:)

Doesn't Kitkit mind not having a warm box on
which to doze? I had a cat who loved to sleep
next to the TV and my parents wouldn't let me
watch TV for fear of spoiling her beauty sleep.

First, was addicted to watching MTV India top 10 - year 1998.

Then remote control got invaded.

Fought, the war for remote.

Got hooked to the 'intelligent box'. I whole heartedly refute simplex communications. - year 2000.

Chose to willingly give up (read: innocently lose) waging the war for remote.

Then /me lived happily ever after! :-)

My lovely story.

I have a good solution to the TV problem; it doesn't rule my life because of my ancient VCR, which is put to good use. I tape programs or part of them (eg. Jay Leno is only the first 10 minutes!) and watch when I am free, in the afternoons, etc. Other than this, I hardly watch "live" tv at all..
