He's home!  Dustin (yes, that's the name we settled on) is a sweet boy, a little bit shy.  Very attached to me already - if I close a door between me and him, he claws it open.  Gotta work on that.

Dustin's life has changed so much over the past month - he had a home at one point, then he was running loose in the woods, then he was in the shelter, ( Read more... )

"ETA: OMFG, he has gas! ICK! That is some horrible, horrible stench. Hopefully his digestive system will settle down soon."

The Bostons have that problem very frequently. It can take away all of the O2. But still leave you laughing.

Congratulations on yournew dog!

Turns out his body was trying to process the ivermectin I'd wormed him with earlier. Later that night, he couldn't wake me up to be let out, so he opened the door to the master bathroom and left me a 'gift' half the size he was. YIKES. Fortunately there have been no more horrible dog farts since then.

One of my former dogs was terrified of farts. She'd be sleeping on the couch - the dogs had their own sofa back then - and would pass gas in her sleep. She'd leap off the sofa, turn around, and stare at it like it had tried to eat her. She never did connect the sound of the fart with her own body - or knowing Maxine, she just did it to make us laugh.

LOL! Mine do that too. My chihuahua/terrier mix, Maxine, could spell. We couldn't say "walk" in regular conversation without getting all the dogs psyched up, but she soon learned what "W-A-L-K" meant. I miss her - she was a riot.
