there's a hole where something was

Yeah, I cried a little. And I know the (semi? psuedo?) split was predictable, unsurprising, whatever. But it still hurt to read about it for real. Maybe because even the mention of a new Fall Out Boy a couple of years down the line seems insanely far away--I myself have changed so much year to year that I can hardly imagine what my life will be like ( Read more... )

And I just clicked your first link and had no idea that Pete had a book called The Boy With A Thorn In His Side. I am grinning like an idiot just at the title.

Hey, let's ignore the fact that you showed up late, and embrace that you're here in the first place!

I think "Arms Race" might be my least favorite FOB song, to tell the truth, but I understand why it was such a popular single for a while. Were you an MCR fan first?

I tend to enjoy all their opening tracks; I think they write/pick them to hit first and hard, and I love the tone they set for each record. And yeah, they're great "get up and go" music too. :)

Hope you're liking the links, it was really fun going back and finding them all!

Yeah, I came to bandom from the direction of MCR with a side of The Used. (and a lot of Green Day; I found MCR by way of Green Day and was then slightly surprised that there are only a handful of crossover fics.) I find it funny that FOB are characterised as an emo band by so many people because I find a lot of their music so... energising, kind of. It really gets me going.

And it was fun! I'm writing bandom fic for the first time at the moment and on a diet of about three primers a day trying to get my characterisation right.

I think I'm trying to repress all my feeling towards this because I don't want to cry but I haven't listened to them today and I haven't used my FOB userpic. It hurts.

Like I said in my journal, I saw this comming when Peter kept saying "If FAD is our last album" but I thought he was being Pete.

I will miss my favourite band, I haven't been a fan of a band for that long. I haven't loved every single thing a band made like I did with FOB. What makes me even sadder is that I didn't get to see them live and now I probably never will.

I'm not so sure about Patrick's solo project. I'm a bit pissed with his personality and physical change so I'm not sure if his music genious is intact. I hope it is. That's all.

I listened to a ton of FOB music last night, and it actually made me feel a little better, because at least they made a pretty significant chunk of music over the last few years, and I know it'll always have a place in my heart. So that permanent feeling cheered me up a bit.

I'm sorry you never got to see them live--though not to plant false hope, I felt the same way about Blink-182, and their breakup was waaaay nastier than this.

It does seem like Patrick has gotten a bit snootier, though I can't really hate on his losing weight. I'm hoping a teaser or single won't be too far in the distance, so we can gauge where he's at musically right now.

I can't exactly say I'm surprised, but I'm definitely sad to hear it. I got into them a bit late, but I fell so hard. *sigh*

Anyway, my thoughts/experiences/whatever tend to take up a lot of space, so allow me to link you to a few concert write-ups I did of Fall Out Boy shows (only the best few, though; there are probably two others floating around my journal, too).

So, they can be found here, here, and here.

Yeah, I originally planned to link to all the FOB picspams I've done in this journal, and then realized that there were WAY too many to post.

I wouldn't say I'm surprised by it, but I do feel sad about the vibe of tension there seems to be between the guys. I JUST DON'T LIKE IT WHEN PETE WENTZ IS SAD OKAY GOSH. :(
