That was so heartwrenchingly beautiful. Because of the images, the characterization, the whole plot just makes so much sense. Wonderfully thought-up and written, hats off to you.

First impressions? Wow. The level of depth and reason you've given all the characters is amazing. Rome's reasons for 'favoring' Veneziano, Romano's reasons for feeling left out, even the very gentle nature of the Ancient nations passing on...it was all done beautifully, in a way that makes me feel like all these things were lurking in the back of my mind and you've just brought them out. They probably weren't, but you've done it so naturally that it feels that way.
Plus, I have a total soft spot for anything involving Rome and Romano's relationship, and you did it so beautifully I just had to love it. The languages, with the transition from Latin to Italian, was also a great touch. And I won't pretend I didn't squee at the idea of a little huddle of Ancient nations.
Basically--I'm loving on this like no other. Amazing job! &hearts

*blushing like mad* T-Thank you. I really put a lot of thought into why Romano would feel so unloved, especially since I never, ever believed that Rome didn't love him. The idea of having him be jealous just came out of nowhere and I didn't question it since it felt so right. When I was writing that fic last year about Ancient Greece and Ancient Egypt I didn't have to worry about it so much because the way it's expressed in canon makes me feel like those women left things behind for their sons knowing it would be left in good hands, while Rome is just too proud to look at having a successor that way.
Anyways, I rambled. Sorry. I'm so pleased that you enjoyed it! ♥
