You know, France/America is such an interesting relationship. We've never officially gone to war with France, and they based their revolution on ours, and we've been constant allies...but no one ever thinks of America as really...running after France in that way. But it makes so much sense.

That all being said--wow I have a tendency to tanget--I loved this. The first scene by itself would've done it for me, but the mirror was especially interesting and heart-wrenching. It's such an interesting thought, but one that works so well you can't help but believe it.

Excellent work!

In the second line, your spacing's a bit off around the comma. Just to let you know!

Personally, I love the France/America pairing. I think that it's like, England nurtured us like a father, and France was the cool uncle we wanted to grow up and be like because he gave us sweets when we were kids. I could see America looking up to him quite a bit, if not a lot.

The first scene was the first to come in my head, and the one I really wanted to right. But I really also wanted there to be more drama (who doesn't love drama), and a reason for Canada to have this inferiority complex.

Plus, not enough people relate Canada's appearance to France's, imo, even though they look a lot alike.

Thank you for the awesome review, Hallie <3

damn, I thought I fixed that! thank you!!

*tiny cough* Maybe the closest to an official war was the French and Indian War, but that was England and France slugging it out with SullenTeen!British America on England's side?

Revolutionary America would have such a crush on France and I could definitely see it continuing as a sort of warm fuzzy that just sits there no matter who France flits off after. I don't know about a pointless yearning and pursuit in more modern times, though. We've had some pretty close times with France in the past, but relations aren't as super tight as with other nations (much to the character America's displeasure, I'm sure).

OP, I can believe the messed up dynamics of this little triangle. So painful to poor Mattie. I just want to give him a hug. And smack America on the head for being so oblivious.

Well, the nation of America has never officially declared war on France, and vice versa. That was what I was referring to.

Oh glrorious. I love these. I like the little bits of French. They're very cute but also true to the characters.
