[well, at least he's managed to work out computers. Now it's time for a public service announcement. A very short, aggressive one.]This claim that our worlds are gone: it is false. Were my country and its people destroyed, the Will of Heaven would not have allowed me to live. Why is such a lie propagated to all, when it is the cause of so much ( Read more... )

[Suzaku doesn't look happy, in fact he looks utterly miserable and his voice is quiet]

I believe it is a ploy to keep us in line from our kidnappers, to make us believe that even were escape possible we have no where to go.

[Keiki's point exactly.]

In that they have failed.

It doesn't matter if they have failed or not since they are more than powerful enough to keep us here.

The kidnap itself is not the issue I wish to discuss. I have nothing to say on that point, rather it is the spread of falsehood to cause pain I cannot condone.

Maybe they do it in an attempt to break us? Our faith?

[Because Link is very much PISSED about this as well.]

Maybe. It is reprehensible no matter the reason.

I agree. It's a foul joke.

Hey, I shouldn't be here either if my world's gone, but I went back and it all was.

[he's not sure if he's understood correctly]

It was gone?

Everything was dead. I couldn't find anyone and it was all--

[He makes a vague gesture.]

But it's not like I'm trying to be all doom and gloom! I mean, we just need to know the situation so we can bring everything back.

[this is most troubling.] I don't think you understand. Were my kingdom destroyed, I would be dead, or dying. A kirin cannot outlive their kingdom.

[Well, this is an interesting prospect.]

What do you mean you wouldn't have been allowed to live? [Is this automatic, or something?]

I am bound by Heaven's mandate to the King of Kei, and her kingdom. As a kirin, I cannot live independently of her majesty or of the Will.

Simply put, there is no reason for a kirin to exist if their kingdom is no more.

Do you mean that you literally can't live? Like a special bond? [Or magic?]

Precisely so.

Obviously it's a lie. If somethin like this was going to happen, the corps would have known about it. We would have put up a fight.

I'm afraid I do not know of a corps, but I agree. Something so catastrophic would have been foretold by the sages.

We're the kind of people that keep countries and people from being destroyed.
