The changes to Chapman in this are something I've never really liked, actually. I mean, this doesn't just make him into a jerk - it makes him into someone willing to sell out the entire planet. That's like A-grade villainy right there.
And for me, what I always really liked about Chapman was how everything with Melissa really humanised him. The sacrifice he made for her made him into a tragic hero. And so making him into such a massive tool...it really takes away from that, I feel. I could buy him being a bit of a tool as a kid, who matured and grew up later. But from signing away everyone on Earth? That's a bit much, really. I would have vastly preferred that Chapman just remain a normal, ordinary guy who is willing to sacrifice his own freedom for his daughter.
Thank you. Yeah, I'm choosing to believe that TAC!Chapman and #2!Chapman are different people Who just happen to have the same name. Canon? What canon?
