I would think #5 and #9 would be good books for him to read, since they both deal with the conflict between human brains and insect/hive mind creatures.
Yeah, it definitely crossed my mind to recommend the termite/ant books to him, since those are pretty creepy and unique when it comes to the human brain-animal brain interaction. Thanks for the suggestion!
No problem! I think out of all the animals that they morph, the minds of the termites and the ants are the most extreme.
...now if only the Buffa-Human book wasn't. Well. The Buffa-Human book. Otherwise I imagine your boyfriend might have also found the treatment of animals morphing humans interesting.
#33 touches pretty heavily on the differences between his human mind and his hawk mind, since hiding behind the hawk was the only way to save himself from the torture. IMO, it's also one of the best books of the series.
I definitely was thinking of the termites and the ants too. I don't actually know how much the book touches on it but some reason #17, mole morph, made an impact on me. I remember that Rachel lost control of that one at first and then I found the idea of being human-in-mind and tunneling down into the earth so terrifying. I don't know what he'd make of instant maple and ginger oatmeal as an adult though! ;)
#43 has Tobias dealing with the Taxxon brain, I think? #10 has a brief bit about Marco with the dog brain, and later on, he attacks Ax in wolf spider morph.
