Well if the Yeerk had killed Tom by morphing, that would've saved Jake from sending Rachel to do it, later. :P

And I find it hard to believe that Jake did not spend a significant amount of time thinking about that, too. Which only leaves... WHY?!

Tom didn't actually help him in any way, shape, or form, and only hurt him, and got Rachel killed. And, ultimately, Ax. LOL. Stupid jerk.

WHY, JAKE, WHY?!

This was actually my second time reading this book ever. I didn't realize how much I forgot, and how much the events moved me. One thing I had forgotten was the importance of the free National Guard soldiers and the Auxiliary Animorphs. Visser Three slowly killing them drove me nuts, and it was a lot easier to see why Jake spaced all those Yeerks.

The plan to get them onto Visser Three's ship was also fantastic, and I had also forgotten that, so it was amazing to see it all unfold again.

My opinion on Taxxons never rebelling is that they couldn't because they are so fricken' easy to kill. Rebellion without help would be suicide, and I'm not saying they're not intelligent enough to get around it, but each Taxxon is probably used to looking out for themselves (when your brother would as soon eat you as your enemy, makes it difficult to build alliances ^^; ).
