Moments of impact

Since I'm home for the summer and have access to the books again (yay!), I decided to reread The Andalite Chronicles. I don't know if it was because it's been months since I last read it, or if my emotions were lying in wait, but at the end of the book I lost it and ended up crying like a baby. Maybe it's just a testament to how great these books ( Read more... )

There's a beautiful bit of description in the very first chapter (not the prologue) of Elfangor's Secret that I just adore. Tobias's full glass day speech.

Everything about The Capture.

Also, the part about the colors in the end of The Departure.

I'm sure there's more, but those were the first ones that popped into my head.

I remember the full glass speech, after Tobias mentioned Melissa I just kind of brushed it off as something I missed. After Tobias mentioned the slaves I re-read the chapter, cuz I was like... wtf?

Rachel digging her fork into the side of David's head.

The Megamorphs where Jake was on the boat near/with George Washington crossing the Delaware and he was shot. And brains... Yeesh.

Ax when he was talking to Marco's dad for the first time and they had that lolzy exchange. "You're name is Yes?" "No." "You're name is no?" "Yes."

Megamorphs, "Time of the Dinosaurs" when they were all in dino forms, rushing the evil aliens site. I don't know why, but I've always liked that scene.

When Cassie realized Tobias had eaten one of the baby skunks before she went on her campaign to save them. And she was pa-issed. And Tobias was all, "LOL"

When Marco was nearly stuck in flea morph, and everyone was freaking, but Cassie went right up to him and coaxed him through it.

I'm sure I'll think of more later.

Hmm... that bit in 52 where all the other Animorphs were busy saying goodbye to their families, and Ax and Jake had their little "moment."

The last time we see Arbron in AC.

Jake's "death" in MM3.

Oh, there are definitely more... too tired to think of them right now..

The last sentence of the Absolute, when they find the governor woman and tell her about the yeerks and she announces it to the world on TV.

There was something about that, that really clicked it in my head that the series was ending. After the governor announced that American troops were being sent and the state of emergency was declared and such.

"We sat in silence, staring at the blank screen."

I was like hugely impacted by Rachel's death to the point where I didn't read the books for five years after. :S On rereading, though, I don't know why.
